Depart the pier for the short, scenic drive to the Middleham Car Park, the starting-point of your guided, approximately 2.25-hour medium-level hiking trek to Dominica's tallest waterfall. Your trail is located in the north-western portion of Morne Trois Pitons National Park, an UNESCO World Heritage Site in Dominica. This approximately 950-acre (about 384-hectare) tract of pristine, tropical rainforest was donated to the Government of Dominica through The Nature Conservancy.

Providence River, Viewing Platform, Diverse Tree, Plant & Bird Species

A 60-minute, approximately 1.34-mile (about 2.15-kilometre) hike leads you to the majestic, approximately 275-foot (about 83.9-metre) Middleham Falls. En route, cross a small stream of the Providence River, then hike uphill for approximately 25-30 minutes before starting your segment downhill until reaching the viewing platform. You may encounter as many as 60 different species of trees and plants, including the yanga palm, which is endemic to the Lesser Antilles, as well as gommier and buttress-rooted chatanier trees. A wide array of birdlife includes many species of thrush, and you may be lucky to catch sight of the Jaco parrot.

Upon arrival at Middleham Falls, take in the captivating beauty of this majestic waterfall and do not miss an opportunity for a refreshing dip in the cool, inviting, and crystal-clear waters of the natural pool at its base. Following your visit to the falls, begin the 60-minute, approximately 1.34-mile (about 2.15-kilometre) hike back to the Middleham Car Park. Upon arrival, re-board your coach for the short ride to Kaichay in Trafalgar Village. After a refreshment stop here, re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of hiking for approximately 2.8 miles (about 4.5 kilometres) at times over uneven, rocky, slippery, and natural surfaces and steep inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach. This tour is recommended for active guests in good physical condition. This tour is not suitable for pregnant guests, guests with back and/or neck problems, guests with heart and/or respiratory conditions, guests with a fear of heights, guests with limited mobility, and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable sportswear with flat, sturdy, non-slip, and closed-toe hiking shoes, and bring sun protection, insect repellent, raingear, swimwear, a towel, change of clothing, bottled water, and US Dollars, local currency, or credit cards for purchases from the ship. Guests must be at least 12 years old to participate on this tour; minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 years old. Guests must be at least 21 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. Due to the spray from the falls, waterproof cameras are highly-recommended. Although frequently encountered on this type of tour, wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. A signed waiver is required to participate on this tour.
