Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
See two of Hakodate's most famous sites on this brief excursion of just over three hours, visiting the Hakodate Morning Market and the Goryokaku Fort. Drive just 10 minutes to begin your tour at the lively Hakodate Morning Market, which is where approximately 250 stores offer souvenirs and incredibly fresh seafood, including live crabs and other shellfish. Browse the shops with the guide or jump into a local restaurant to have fresh seafood breakfast on your own.
Then travel 20 minutes to arrive at the Goryokaku Tower and its fascinating star-shaped Fort, built in 1855 by the short-lived Republic of Ezo as its headquarters. The tower is 107 meters high, with observatory decks that command the entire view of "Star-Shaped" Goryokaku Fort, as well as the city of Hakodate, the Tsugaru Strait and the Yokotsu mountain range. Take a short tour inside the fort led by your knowledgeable guide.
After your visit make the short return drive to the pier.
