Palermo, City Centre, Norman Palace and the Cathedral

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 45-minute sightseeing drive through Palermo's city centre, a popular holiday destination for local residents. A photo stop is made at the historic Norman Palace, which dates back to the Saracen Period but was altered by the Norman Kings. Afterward proceed to the magnificent Cathedral, which was built in the 12th-century by an archbishop and transformed into a mosque during Muslim occupation. The basilica houses six Royal Tombs, and was restored to the hands of Christianity by the Normans. The remains of Palermo's protector, Ste. Rosalia, are stored in the chapel in an urn of pure silver.

Palermo Landmarks and Mondello

Next, re-board your coach for the drive past the Massimo Theatre, Felice Gate and Marina Square, a popular meeting-place amidst the Garibaldi Gardens. Upon arrival in Mondello, at the conclusion of your guided visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier.
