Excursion São vicente island discovery tour at Mindelo

The Cape Verde Islands are located in the mid-Atlantic Ocean, approx. 300 miles off the west coast of Africa. The Portuguese settlers arrived in 1462. Depart the town of Mindelo and enjoy a panoramic drive through scenic landscapes, volcanic valleys and the rugged coastline of Sao Vicente island. Discover the natural beauty and dramatic lunar landscape.

After a glimpse of the historical harbour city Mindelo we will continue our way to discover the landscape of the island Sao Vicente.

Discover the colorful city of Mindelo with its colonial architecture of Portuguese and British influence. Pass the colorful town with the square called Praca Nova, along the harbor, the African market at Praça estrela with portuguese azulejos.

A panoramic drive trough fantastic landscapes, volcanic valleys, colorful coast and tasting the national liqueur in breath taking nature. Lean back and discover the beauty of the island's landscape. By bus you will pass through volcanic landscape to our first stop, the top of the highest mountain of the island "Monte Verde" (750 m) with its plantations and spectacular views over the island and if the weather allows to the neighbor islands. Along the coast we will reach the beach "Praia Grande" with the contrast of white sand and mountains of black lava. Here you will enjoy some moments to relax while your guide will serve you some of the national liqueur "Grogue" and "Pontche". On the way back to the cruise we will pass the agricultural valley, "Ribeira de Calhau" and you will get to know about agriculture and the gastronomy on the island.
