Stockholm, founded as a fortress where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic, began to grow in the mid-13th century. It ultimately became Sweden's capital.


City Drive, Island of Djurgården

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive through the city centre, then on to the nearby island of Djurgården, once the royal family's private hunting grounds.


Vasa Museum

On the island of Djurgarden, regarded as Stockholm's outdoor recreation centre and Green Lung, visit the Vasa Museum. On display is the seventeenth century warship, which sank in Stockholm's inner harbour on the outset of its maiden voyage in 1628. The discovery of the ship in 1956 and its salvage in 1961 are some of the most important events in marine archaeology.

Leaving the Vasa Museum, take a panoramic sightseeing drive through Stockholm. Along the way, pass several renowned landmarks including the Royal Dramatic Theatre, City Centre, Opera House, Parliament building, and, of course, get a view of the Royal Palace.
