Onsen Experience – Japanese Style Hot Springs and Lunch
Depart the pier for the approximate 1-hour drive to the Tsukioka Onsen resort. Tsukioka Onsen is located in Niigata Prefecture, an area famous for its water. Tsukioka Onsen area offers hot springs, delicious food especially rice, and sake that can be experienced because of its high-quality water, all at once. Especially, benefits of Onsen (Hot Springs) is unique and attractive. Tsukioka Onsen is called "the hot spring that can make you more beautiful” because of composition of hot springs. Some of those hot springs are emerald, green in color. Color is changing depending on weather conditions. You will experience the unique Japanese way of bathing in a hot spring while your mind and body are healed.
Walking around Tsukioka Onsen (Guided)
After having lunch, take a stroll in the hot springs area. Your guide will show you around Tsukioka Onsen area first and take you to a sake shop. Here, you can try 3 kinds of sake for tasting. After that, enjoy strolling for getting souvenirs, eating snacks and sweets, and seeing beautiful scenery by yourself. If you are tired of strolling, you can take outside footbath quickly in order to heal your foot again.
Tasting Japanese Sake
Superior quality rice serves as the foundation for Niigata's exquisite sake, making the area a heaven for sake enthusiasts. After “Guided” strolling around Tsukioka Onsen, you can enjoy tasting Japanese Sake at the Sake Shop. Let's compare the taste of three types of Japanese sake, using small cups called "ochoko" which are traditionally used for drinking Sake. After the tasting Sake, this tour provides you with time to enjoy another leisurely stroll around Tsukioka Onsen, allowing you to immerse yourself in the delightful flavors of the Sake you've tasted. Then, your tour concludes with an approximate 1-hour transfer back to the pier.

Please note: Japanese hot springs are enjoyed naked. Swimming suits are not allowed. It's permitted to bring a small towel into the bathing area, with which you can enhance your privacy while outside of the water. Once entered the bath, the towel must be kept out of the water. Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, face towel, and bath towel will be provided at the hot spring’s location. The hot springs are separated for female-only and male-only but are not privately. Those who have tattoo on body cannot experience hot spring. Guest must be at least 20 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Lightweight, comfortable clothing, flat, closed-toe walking shoes and sun protection are recommended. Although credit cards are mainly accepted, Japanese yen is required for any purchases: guests are advised to exchange money at the airport prior to the cruise. The tour sequence may vary. Local Tour Guides tend to have a strong accent therefore we urge flexibility. Guests are to remove shoes before entering Onsen Ryokan. Tour duration may vary according to the docking position of the ship.
